FormerLove Island starDami Hope has become caught up in a social media row with one of this year’s contestants, David Salako.
Having arrived at the South African villa as a bombshell alongside fellow newbie Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown, last week 25 year oldDavid sadly became the first Islander to be dumped from the show.
And since leaving the villa, the money advisor has become embroiled in a war of words on social media after responding to remarks made by 2022 contestant Dami on Twitter.
In a post written on January 22, Dami told his 35,800 followers: “Atp if David needs a trim I'll cut his hair ffs #Aftersun #loveisland."
In response to the clip, David clapped back and took to TikTok where he alluded to the idea of stealing Dami’s girlfriend, fellow Islander Indiyah Polack.
Sat in a barber’s chair in reference to 26 year old Dami’s previous swipe, David screenshotted the tweet and said: “Dami, you've been getting onto me since I left the villa. I've stolen your barber, you know what I'm going for next.”
After seeing the clip, Dami reposted the video onto his Instagram Story where he wrote: “Man said you know what I’m going for next [laughing emoji].
“You couldn't even bag a girl in the villa [crying emoji] and you think you can take mine."
But David has since clarified that his comments were made as a “light-hearted joke” in response to “personal” comments, and that he has no actual plans to make a move on Dami’s girlfriend.
Speaking on a new episode of the Secure the Insecure Podcast, shared withThe Sun, David explained: “Let’s be real, I'm not speaking to Indiyah at all.”
He added: “I've not made one comment back because that's not in my nature. So I have made a light-hearted joke, just in response to his personal comments, and that was it.”
Now that he is out of the Love Island villa, David has been busy spilling the beans on what it's like being on the show and shining a light on his experiences as a contestant.
Most recently, the TV personality revealed thathis co-stars Olivia Hawkins and Zara actually knew each other before they joined the show.
When asked on TikTok about Olivia and Zara’s relationship outside of the villa, David explained: “Yeah, this is something that was discussed in the villa, so, they told everyone; I think Zara told everyone that she knew Liv, and Liv confirmed.”
