Love Island fans were left shocked after an Aftersun guest questioned Mehdi Edno’s sexuality on the show.

Rapper Stefflon Don, 31, appeared on Sunday (25 June) evening’s episode of the post-Love Island chat show, where she was met with a backlash after a comment she made about Mehdi, 26, who is currently coupled up with Whitney Adebayo, 25.

Speaking to host Maya Jama, Stefflon said: “I don’t know if he even likes females, I’m not going to lie.”

In response, the studio let out a collective gasp and Maya said: “Oh no!”

Stefflon then continued: “I’m not sure you know. Or he likes both. He’s giving a bit of both.”

Maya quickly stepped in to say: “He can do whatever he likes, but…”

Some viewers at home were also unimpressed with the comment, with one person writing: “That’s not cool. She shouldn’t be speculating about his sexuality on TV. Just say that you don’t see it for Mehdi and Whitney. There’s no reason to get into all of that.”

Another person added: “That was really unnecessary. We should not be questioning ppl’s sexuality in 2023. Whitney, like Ella, needs a new guy. Let’s leave it at that.”

Meanwhile, another unhappy viewer wrote: “Homophobia and biphobia during pride month?! Simply wild scenes and it killed my vibe”.

The heart rate challenge made its return to Love Island during Sunday night's episode, and it appears to have left some drama in its wake – including between Mehdi and Whitney.

With the islanders taking turns to get each other's pulses racing, Mehdi pulled out all the stops, opting to kiss four different girls when it was his turn, leaving Whitney not particularly happy about the situation.

After the challenge, Whitney turned to Mehdi and asks: "Why are you kissing everyone?"

Then as Whitney and Mehdi caught up in private, Whitney said: "How can you not gauge emotional awareness? Every single boy kissed the one they are most interested in."

This later ended in an argument, with Mehdi storming off as he told Whitney: "Whitney… you're literally, honestly, draining all my energy."

Fans have shared their thoughts on the bizarre turn of events, with many sharing their own confusing over Mehdi. One wrote: "Why is mehdi mad, bruh you’re kissing all the girls AND your heart rate was raised the most by Catherine #LoveIsland."
