Yesterday it was confirmed Sherif Lanre, 20, had been booted out of the Love Island villa.
The semi-pro rugby player was asked to leave by producers after he broke villa rules.
Sherif confirmed the news in a statement issued on Tuesday.
It read: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers it was best for me to leave.”
ITV2 have been tight lipped about the whole fiasco with many viewers thinking they would address the shock exit on last night’s programme.
Narrator Iain Stirling briefly mentioned Sherif had left, but failed to go into detail.
He said: ”Earlier today, following conversations with the producers, Sherif left the villa. But for other Islanders, it’s another day in paradise.”
“Mugged off” fans soon inundated social media slamming the TV network for failing to provide the real reason behind Sherif’s sudden departure.
One wrote: “Love Island need to explain the Sherif thing, you can’t just edit him out of the episode and think we wouldn’t notice.”
A second was in agreement, saying: “What kind of ‘reality’ show is Love Island? Show us what happened with Sherif you fake b******s.”
A third put: “Spent 12 hours in suspense waiting to find out what’s gone on with Sherif, only for them to ghost the situation completely. ITV have well and truly had me off!”
It is still unclear why Sherif was asked to leave, with his mum confessing she is still none the wiser about the whole situation.
She said: “I don’t know the real reason yet, but I’m determined to get to the bottom of it.”
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2.
