Tamer Hassan discussed his daughter Belle Hassan’s ‘acting’ prowess on Good Morning Britain today – sparking a debate that Love Island is set up.
In a discussion with Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd, the actor hinted that behind the scenes, TV bosses could be determining the contestants’ emotions.
He said: “Even in there, who knows whether the producers are saying, ‘Listen, cry’.
“I’m an actor, I’ve got to sometimes [when] it’s scripted.”
A shocked Kate asked: “Can you cry on command?”
To which Tamer responded: “Like a tap.”
The chat soon turned to contestant wellbeing and Ben raised his concern over the manipulation of islanders and questioned Tamer wether he was okay with his daughter taking part in the show.
He said: ”No, listen. My daughter’s very talented, very smart, she’s elegant, she holds her own well and she’s sort of done stuff with me as a kid. She’s a really talented actress, she did her drama school.
“She went through the right path. I was untrained at a Guy Richie and a Nick Love school, I just got thrown in and had to learn the hard way.
“She wasn’t cool around fame when she was growing up. She kind of looked like she was worried about it but the wife says, ‘No, no, she didn’t like the attention he was getting coz you was her dad [sic]’.”
He added: “And all of a sudden she says she wants to go on the biggest show in the country and you’re going to come out, probably the most famous person around for a minute. But she’s gone in there, she’s holding her own and we’ve got to support her.”
Despite his agent telling him not to, Tamer also admitted to watching Belle’s lap dance.
He revealed: “You know what, I watched it and she actually made me laugh. I thought she was brilliant.
