The current series of the ITV competition has seen its share of tempestuous relationships between Islanders.
But the villa has also been in the centre of a literal storm in recent days.
The Love Island contestants were forced to stay inside due to the bad conditions earlier this week, reports The Sun Online.
A source told the publication: “The weather was so bad that bosses had to make the decision to keep the Islanders inside the villa.
“It would be really dangerous for them to be outside in a lightning storm, especially with all the electrical cabling around that is needed to film the show.
“Bosses were also worried someone might slip over or even get struck by lightning – it just wasn’t worth the risk.”
A spokesperson for the show said: “There was some thunder on Wednesday.”
Last night’s episode was crunch time for Amber Gill as she had to pick between Michael Griffiths and Greg O’Shea in a recoupling.
Michael had told her he still had feelings for her, leaving amber in a quandary.
However, she ultimately decided to go with new boy Greg, and many viewers were delighted with her choice.
After the recoupling, Michael claimed he was coping with the outcome as he spoke to the boys.
“Am I gonna cry about it? No,” he stated. “It doesn’t mean I’m happy about it.
“I’m not gonna sit back and say I don’t have feelings for her. I’m not a bitter guy – I might have f****d things on the outside I might have f****d things on the inside.
“But ultimately, I’ve got everything off my chest.”
Yet Michael didn’t completely back off as he told Amber he didn’t think things would work out between her and Greg.
The fireman is currently coupled up with Francesca Allen who had to pick him as there was no one left to couple up with.
Viewers went on to laud her recoupling speech as one of the best ever as she made a few savage digs at the Liverpudlian.
She said: “Well, what can I say, you would all probably go hungry if it wasn’t for this man here making you all cheese toasties.
“I’ve personally really struggled to find a connection in here, so you’re an expert so I’m hoping that you might be able to teach me a few things!”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
