Lewis Capaldi has thrown shade at ex-girlfriend Paige Turley after picking up song of the year and finally cleared up who Someone You Loved is about at the Brit Awards 2020.
Well… kind of. You just never know with this one.
Picking up the biggest award of the night, the star couldn’t help but clear up a few misconceptions after months of speculation that the massive song is actually about Paige, who is currently in South Africa in the Love Island villa.
Speaking on stage, the Scottish jokester said: ‘Hello, hahaha. Hello. My name is Lewis, thanks very much for this. Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend who you can now see every night on Love Island.
‘But it is actually about my grandmother who sadly, sadly passed away a few years ago,’ he then said. ‘And I hope to God that ITV don’t contact her to be a on a reality dating TV show.
‘But thank you so much, this has been the best, best year of my life.’
Lewis took home two awards across the star-studded night, also taking home best new artist at the beginning of the night, which was his first ever Brit.
Not that anyone could hear what he was saying though in his speech – as he swore during it, meaning it was blurred from transmission by ITV for viewers at home.
Don’t worry though – if you want to know, we know people on the inside!
