Law and Order: SVU fans are patiently waiting for the final episodes of the hit NBC police drama. However, after a difficult year for the SVU squad, some happy news may be coming their way. Will Fin Tutuola (played by Ice-T) make it down the aisle in the season finale?
The long-running crime series has seen its fair share of horrific crimes.
However, in the season 22 finale, fans are hoping that Sergeant Fin Tutuola and his girlfriend Phoebe Baker (Jennifer Esposito) will finally marry.
First introduced in season 20, Phoebe had previously dated Fin after her marriage ended, but she returned in season 22 to assist the squad on a case.
Later in season 22, Phoebe left her boyfriend to start dating Fin once again.
Fin later told Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) that she was the best thing to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In season 22, Fin prepared to propose to Phoebe but admitted that he was scared she would say no.
However, his proposal on New Year’s Eve was ruined by a call regarding a case.
Fin then later successfully proposed to Phoebe and she immediately accepted, much to the delight of his fellow squad members.
Since Fin’s proposal, fans have been eagerly waiting for news regarding their upcoming nuptials.
In fact, many viewers hoping that they’ll get to see his wedding sometime this season.
One Twitter user wrote: “Congratulations Fin & Phoebe! I’m happy Phoebe said ‘Yes’! Fin is a good guy. I found love! #SVU.”
Another also said: “We’re all invited to the wedding, right??”
A third commented on whether or not viewers would get to see the whole wedding, writing: “Possibly just the reception. And although I’d love to see the wedding, I’m just so glad someone from SVU is married and in a good relationship.”
A recently released synopsis for the season 22 finale, titled Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing, may deliver on a happy ending between Fin and Phoebe.
The synopsis reads: “While Fin and Phoebe make wedding plans, Benson and Rollins try to help a homeless single mother who’s being trafficked in exchange for safe housing.”
The episode will guest star Christopher Meloni, in another crossover event with Law and Order: Organized Crime, as well as Jennifer Esposito once again.
Though, is history destined to repeat itself and will Fin be called away from his wedding for an urgent case?
Viewers will hope not as Law and Order SVU fans have watched the team struggle this season with horrific cases, all while dealing with the pandemic.
Fans are surely excited to witness a relationship blossom on the show as other characters have struggled with their personal lives in the past.
Fin and Phoebe aren’t the only SVU couple fans are rooting to see together.
Viewers have long expressed their desire to see Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) together.
Giddish recently spoke to TV Line about their burgeoning relationship and the possibility of the two getting together in the future, saying: “Peter and I talk about, ‘Oh God, what if they ever put our characters together?’ And it’s such a solid friendship that you don’t get to see [on TV much].”
Going forward, if Fin and Phoebe make it down the aisle, perhaps they won’t be the only SVU couple anymore.
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit is currently airing season 22 on NBC in the US. A UK release date has yet to be announced.
