Kate Garraway, 53, was joined by Alex, 39, to host Good Morning Britain – the first time in which he has done so. Amongst discussion of the headlines, the pair were also talking about the fact the regular weather presenter had been impersonated on a popular dating app following his split from Natalia Natkaniec. Alerting the forecaster he had a celebrity admirer, the mother-of-two was left embarrassed as he slipped an innuendo into the conversation she really wasn’t expecting to hear so early on in the morning on the ITV news programme.
The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star told her co-star Love Island personality Amy Hart, 28, had followed him on Instagram.
“You’re already very popular Alex, not only with our viewers, who are loving having you on the show but Amy Hart has come forward.
“You know Amy Hart from Love Island? Absolutely gorgeous girl,” Kate explained, adding: “She has come forward to say that you are her favourite, favourite crush.”
Alex remarked: “Yes apparently she followed me on Instagram a few days ago and she is upset I didn’t follow her back.
“So maybe I will go on Instagram now… Hit me up!” he quipped to which his co-host made an announcement directly to the former islander.
“So Amy if you’re watching he’s going to get in touch,” Kate said, to which Alex asked her: “Am I?”
Correcting his co-star, he added: “I said I was going to follow her, I didn’t say I was going to slide in, Kate.”
Realising he’d made a rather cheeky comment, the presenter quickly commented: “I mean slide into the DMs [Direct messaging].”
The mother-of-two remarked: “Oh, hello! It’s getting a bit exciting, I’m getting all hot and bothered, I don’t know where I am!”

Despite the comical moment, fans quickly took to social media and commented on Alex taking on the leading role.
One posted: “@alexberesfordTV #gmb Wow what a good morning that was finding you presenting GMB this morning, congrats! Doing great as well.”
Another added: “Brilliant having @alexberesfordTV presenting @GMB about time he was main presenter he’s too good to just do the weather can he stay on until Piers is back please good choice @ITV #gmb.”
Whilst a third commented: “Good to see Alex at the desk. Anything better than the shouty irritating Piers. #GMB.”
