Kate Garraway had the heartbreaking job of pausing Pete Bennett's interview on Good Morning Britain today as he became overwhelmed with emotion.
Pete appeared on the show to pay tribute to his ex-girlfriend and longtime best friend, Nikki Grahame.
Nikki, who shot to fame back in Big Brother 7 in 2006 with the winner of that year Pete, died at the age of 38 after a long battle with anorexia on Friday.
The pair's whirlwind romance ended a month after the show but they remained close friends ever since with Pete saying he rushed to see Nikki in her last days.
Her death comes after she spent recent weeks she had been receiving treatment for an eating disorder at a specialist clinic following a fundraising campaign organised by friends and fans.
Pete, who has Tourette syndrome, sadly and understandably broke down while talking about his beloved Nikki on GMB as he spoke about her eating disorder.
He said: "I thought love and support would save her.
"I tried my best because we had a bond from Big Brother we've always had that special bond and me and Nikki have always had that bond even though we went our separate ways."
