The Grand Tour: Richard Hammond on the new series

Jeremy Clarkson has weighed in on The Grand Tour’s new TV special in a social media post as fresh details about the latest episode are revealed.

Jeremy issued a touching tribute to Zimbabwe as filming came to a close ahead of the release of a feature-length episode early next year.

However, Mr Clarkson was quick to call out the country’s “potholes” in a thinly veiled swipe.

He posted on X, formerly Twitter: “My profound thanks to the people and Government of Zimbabwe for helping to make a very special Grand Tour special, very special.

“We absolutely adored everything about your country. Apart from the potholes maybe.”

Earlier this afternoon, Mr Clarkson posted an image from the trip on social media with the trio claiming to be trapped in the desert.

He wrote: “BA have messed up our flight home so we are marooned here at a luxury camp in Botswana. With only 40 staff. It’s all about survival now.”

James May also posted about the delay on social media: “Grand tour presenters MAROONED in Botswana wildlife paradise following cancellation of BA flight home. Updates to follow.”

British Airways even contacted the presenters, issuing their apologies for the delay in getting the presenters home.

They replied: “Hi James, we’re sorry your flight home has been disrupted. Please send us a DM with your booking details and we’ll help where we can. Gareth.”
