Aside from a few months last year, cinemas have been forced to close due to the ongoing pandemic. But now as UK restrictions are set to ease further from May 17, seeing the latest movies on the big screen is about to become a reality once again. Now a new poll of 2000 UK adults commissioned by Comparethemarket.com, the company behind 2 for 1 Meerkat Movies tickets, have found the Top 40 films that Brits are most looking forward to seeing at cinemas when they re-open.

The most-anticipated movie for Brits to see in cinemas is Daniel Craig’s final James Bond movie No Time To Die.

This doesn’t come as a huge surprise considering it’s been almost six years since the last 007 movie came out and this one has been long delayed with an original release set for October 2019.

But just behind in both second and third place is Tom Cruise with his highly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick, arriving 35 years after the original, and Mission: Impossible 7.

As for the four Marvel movies set to hit cinemas this year, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the one Brits are most looking forward to, followed by Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals.

According to the study, one in four Brits plan to return to the cinema before the end of May.

While three in 10 are more excited about watching long-awaited movies on the big screen than they would have been when they were originally set to release.

One in 10 adults felt cinemas closing was one of the hardest parts of lockdown for them, with 56 per cent agreeing that watching a movie at home didn’t offer the same adrenaline rush of the cinematic experience.

Here’s the full Top 40 films Brits are most looking forward ti seeing at cinemas when they re-open with UK release dates included:
