Jamelia has vowed to ignore internet trolls who slate her acting on Hollyoaks.
The singer has reprised her role as feisty Sharon Bailey on the soap and refuses to let negative jibes get her down.
She said: “I won’t be looking at social media to see what people are saying about me. Absolutely not. That’s the worst thing I could do.
“Who cares what people are saying online? Social media can be a great way to interact with fans. But when you see the tide turning, it’s good to take a step back and think, ‘Not today’.”
Jamelia has been acting for a decade, but she’s still terrified when the cameras start rolling on the Hollyoaks set.
She said: “I’m still in the early days of being part of the cast. It’s still quite nerve-wracking. I’m nervous every time I go on set.”
Jamelia gets much-needed support from co-stars including Glynis Barber, Richard Blackwood and Jamie Lomas.
She said: “The cast and the crew have been incredible. They’ve all looked after me.”
Jamelia is returning to Hollyoaks as a full-time cast member
The pop star will reprise her role as Sharon in upcoming scenes.
Jamelia first appeared on the soap back in September 2021, where Sharon and her mother Pearl were first introduced to the show.
Pearl has since moved to the Hollyoaks village permanently and now runs Price Slice while also being a mother figure to Felix.
Sharon’s daughter, Zoe (played by Garcia Brown) is a local police officer who had a big part in the recent Long Walk Home storyline.
The kind-hearted copper learned her can-do attitude from her mother but can still often be found in trouble.
Talking about being back on the show, Jamelia said: “I just can’t tell you how happy I am to be back at Hollyoaks.
"We’ve been having the best time on set and I already have lovely friends here, some old, some new.
“Sharon’s big arrival unsettles the family dynamic. It’s complicated within the three generations of women but hopefully that is relatable.
"Sharon hasn’t always prioritised her daughter and her mum is stuck in the middle. There’s a lot for them to work through and I can’t wait for viewers to see how that plays out on screen."
Hollyoaks airs through the week at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 7pm on E4.
