JAKE Quickenden ended up looking so orange he compared himself to a Wotsit after trying to tan himself at home.

The former X Factor star, 31, showed fans the unfortunate results of his DIY bronzing session – before horrifying his girlfriend Sophie Church.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, the singer was seen topless in a pop-up booth in his house as he gently sprayed his face with a tanning airbrush.

However, when he was done, the Dancing On Ice winner's body was as pale as before, but his face was five shades darker.

But if the star was unhappy with the terrifying results he didn't show it, giggling as he looked at his reflection before marching down the corridor of his mansion to show Sophie.

Sharing the video on Instagram, he referred to Golden Wonder's legendary cheese snack, writing: "5 layers and look like wotsit ???."

Jake has written a track about the coronavirus lockdown, Quarantine Song, to raise funds for the NHS.

Last week he fought back tears as he spoke to Lorraine Kelly about the tune, recalling how his dad and brother both died of bone cancer.

He said: “Obviously with the NHS, we take it for granted because it’s just there, but the amount of times I have used it and the NHS cared for my dad and my brother, I saw first hand how amazing they were looking after them.

"So I just thought it is so important to look after them too.” Jake added as he began to cry: “Sorry I got a bit, you know.”

Lorraine told him: “It’s OK, Jake. We are all beginning to feel emotional at times like this.”

The star, who has applied to be a health-service volunteer, replied: "Hopefully I can give the NHS a nice cheque and they can use it for whatever they want, which would be a nice thing.

“I felt so helpless, I was supposed to work on some cruise ships and doing some singing on there, so I was sat at home twiddling my thumbs.”
