Jade Goody’s cancer diagnosis was explored in the final instalment of Channel 4’s documentary on the reality star tonight.
The reality star was told of her cervical cancer diagnosis during the Indian version of Big Brother in 2008 with the cameras rolling.
The distressing footage was played on Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain and viewers are shocked that such a moment was actually played on air.
Jade was on the phone to her doctor in London when she was told of the devastating diagnosis.
The cameras captured the phone call and Jade’s tears as she learned how serious her illness was.
Afterwards in an interview, she said: ‘I had no idea that that conversation was being filmed… it was not right.’
Fans have expressed their disgust at the moment being shown on television.
One fan tweeted: ‘OMFG!!! I cannot beleive they told her she had cancer in the Indian big brother diary room!!!! #JadeGoody.’
While another added: ‘thats shocking telling #jadegoody she had cancer on camera that should of stopped being filmed.’
Another fan tweeted: ‘I can’t believe they actually aired the moment when she was told she had cancer #JadeGoody.’
Big Brother host Davina McCall tweeted: ‘This is terrible,’ with a broken heart.
A divisive figure, the earlier episodes explored Jade’s racist outburst against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother which saw her branded ‘the most hated woman in Britain’.
Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain concluded tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
