Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) has landed himself in a whole lot of trouble since his return to Coronation Street.
The character has been in the show on and off for the past couple of decades but during his latest comeback Spider was revealed to be an undercover police officer.
After successfully helping to destroy Griff (Michael Condron) and his gang, Spider’s life has been a little quieter – but that all changed in the wake of Toyah (Georgia Taylor)’s kidnap.
All of which has sparked off a chain of events which could fuel Spider’s departure from Weatherfield once more.
Is he about to bid farewell to the cobbles? Here’s what you need to know…
Is Spider Nugent leaving Coronation Street for good?
If you were hoping Spider and Toyah might reunite we’ve got some bad news for you – as we can confirm Spider Nugent is leaving Weatherfield.
In Monday’s edition of the ITV soap Spider arrived at a waste ground and found the woman who had kidnapped Toyah holding her hostage.
The lady holding the gun was Maggie, the wife of a man who ended up dead – who took Toyah in order for Spider to feel the way he felt.

Spider, embracing his role, told Maggie that he has no regrets and will always do what’s right for the world, which involved making sure her drug dealing husband was destroyed.
The ordeal ended when Maggie’s gun went off – but Spider was wearing a bulletproof vest and as he called DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and the rest of the team, he comforted Toyah, who thought he had been killed.
However, later on Toyah ended things with him, saying if he couldn’t put their relationship ahead of his job then they should not be together – leading to Spider making his exit from the cobbles.
I don’t know if Spider’s putting his job over his relationship,’ Hancock told metro.co.uk.
‘I think his desire to be with Toyah and to be back in Weatherfield overrode his good judgement, maybe. I don’t think he’s put his career before Toyah, I think he put Toyah before his career and his career has dragged him back in.’
He added: ‘It’s just bad luck and circumstance, isn’t it? What’s been happening previously in Spider’s life, what’s been happening previously in Toyah’s life, have conspired to do them down at the end. It’s sad.
‘They’re both very committed people, but for now it’s just not workable.’
Will Spider return to Coronation Street?
As it stands there are no plans for Hancock to bring Spider back to the street – but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t consider it.
‘I said it the first time round, the second time round and the third time round.,’ he said. ‘This is the fourth time round. Yes, I love the show.’
He hasn’t even ruled out the possibility of Spider and Toyah reconciling in the future either.
‘I think it would be nice. Maybe he’ll open an upcycling shop, something like that, where he refurbs and recycles things. Something along those lines.’
Coronation Street continues on ITV on Wednesday night at 8pm.
