Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is set to take action to get revenge on Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) in tonight’s Emmerdale – but there are tough times ahead for the character.
She’s been struggling to come to terms with the prospect of going to prison after Jamie successfully turned the tables and set her up for the hit-and-run – but things between her and Jamie are set to turn nasty after she ends up working alongside him for the day.
However the strain is set to become even more evident for Belle after she starts hearing the voice of her dead mum Lisa.
Does that mean that actress Jane Cox, who played the role, has returned to the soap to voice her character from beyond the grave?
Is Jane Cox returning to Emmerdale to voice Lisa Dingle?
Yes, Jane Cox is making a brief return to Emmerdale – in vocal form at least – as her former character Lisa Dingle.
Lisa had been a staple character on the soap since 1996, but last year departed the show in heartbreaking fashion after she was diagnosed with a condition called Amyloidosis – which results in the buildup harmful protein in your tissue and/or organs – and which ultimately led to her death.
Jane Cox told metro.co.uk that leaving the soap was her decision, and that she believed having Lisa die was the best option for an ending for the character.
Even though playing Lisa Dingle has been her ‘dream job’, Jane told metro.co.uk: ‘I’ve been part of her for 23 years, so it’s a long time.
‘But I’m 66 now, and I felt – I’m very young – but I wanted to not be working at this pace so much in the future, and I’ve got lots of other things that I want to do, not necessarily acting but there’s lots of things that I’m interested in, and if I didn’t do it now, I probably wouldn’t.’

We’ll just have to keep watching to see how hearing the voice of her dead mother affects Belle.
Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV at 7pm.
