Anne Boleyn actress Jodie Turner-Smith is currently front and centre of the anticipated Channel 5 drama, playing the ill-fated second wife of Henry VIII.
But the star recently opened up about the first time that she met her now husband, Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson, saying it was initially meant to be a “one-night stand.”
Speaking during an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, conversation soon turned to Joshua, who Jodie married in December 2019 before welcoming their first child, Janie.
Revealing the details about how they first fell for each other, 34-year-old Jodie said that the pair hit it off at a party and enjoyed a one-night stand, before their relationship developed into something more serious.
She explained: “When I first met my husband, it was kind of — we had a one-night stand. We’re in a two, three-year one-night stand now.”
“First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that,’” Jodie continued.
Sharing more details, Jodie explained that she was wearing a graphic t-shirt from a film called Sorry To Bother You, which featured a character called Detroit, that eventually caught Joshua’s eye.
The actress continued: “He shouts across the room, ‘Detroit!’ He comes over and does this really cute, charming thing that he does and just all night – he just basically followed me around the party.”
And after enjoying a night together, the couple quickly realised it was meant to be and have been together ever since.
Previously opening up about their relationship, Jodie said that they can’t get enough of each other and that she will even watch Joshua’s filmed when they’re apart due to work commitments.
She said: “[I recently] went back and rewatched a lot of his movies.”
Jodie continued: “I do it whenever we're apart because I miss him so much. He loves that I am obsessed with him.”
Joshua, famed for playing Pacey in Dawson's Creek, also recently opened up about when the couple found out they were expecting their first child and getting advice from his two Little Fires Everywhere co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.
He explained: “I was going through a pretty significant change during the show: I found out my wife was pregnant.”
“So having a collection of supermoms around me helped with everything from finding doctors to baby clothes to 'what to expect' advice.”
Anne Boleyn starts on Tuesday 1 June at 9pm on Channel 5
