Talking to his colleagues Fleur East and James Barr on his Hits Radio show, Sam expressed his thought process behind his decision to appear on I'm A Celeb. He confessed: "When they asked [me to go into the jungle] I did think, if Zara was still on Strictly would I be a bad boyfriend if I went – but then decided I had to!
"As it turns out she’s tapping out of Strictly just as I’m tapping in. But because I thought she would still be doing Strictly, Pete’s [Wicks] coming with me! I don’t know if I’m going to have a girlfriend at the end of it…’"
Former I'm A Celeb contestant Fleur then asked the Made In Chelsea star what he was looking forward to the most appearing on the popular programme. He said: "Probably making best friends, I want to make really good pals, be on the Whats App group!"
Discussing one of the more popular tasks, he continued: "And Cyclone! Because I feel like once you’ve hit that you’ve done the experience. I’m under no illusion I’m going to win it so if I can get to just that it would be pretty great.
"I just feel incredibly lucky to be doing something like this – I never thought I’d be given the opportunity to do it and I am a little bit nervous so be gentle with me!"
Fleur, who unfortunately missed out on making the final of the show in 2018, also gave Sam some handy advice on his luxury item. Sam opted to bring the infamous footwear Crocs into the jungle.
Singer Fleuer said: "You do not want your feet exposed in any way in the jungle! You need to reconsider that….!"
As well as Sam, a number of other famous faces will be taking part in this year's series. Some of the contestants include politician Nigl Firage, This Morning's Josie Gibson and YouTube star Nella Rose.
