Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace has called for Walter Deveraux (Trevor A Toussaint) to be thrown out of the family household following the way he reacted to his grandson Mitchell (Imran Adams) coming out earlier this week.
With Toby and Celeste eager to disrupt the Deveraux clan’s happy life as a means of getting revenge, Toby put the photo of Mitchell kissing Scott (Ross Adams) in Walter’s bible — something which the religious man discovered later that day.
Initially, Mitchell attempted to do some damage control and therefore attempted to suggest that the photo was a fake, but — after hearing Walter berate his mother Martine (Kelle Bryan) — he decided that he was no longer willing to hide and thus he bravely came out to his grandad.
However, Walter wasn’t happy and thus proceeded to tell Mitchel that he was no longer welcome in his house — or his family.
Co-star Annie Wallace — who plays headteacher Sally St. Claire on the Channel 4 soap — has taken to Twitter, calling for Walter to be the one removed from the family instead of Mitchell.
She said: ‘After watching last night’s amazing, heartbreaking #hollyoaks… In my view, if someone comes out to their family… the HOMOPHOBE should leave the house, NOT the LGBT+ child,” she wrote. “Martine and Lisa need to put their foot down’
Hollyoaks continues Friday 7 February at 7pm on E4.
