Love is in the air in Hollyoaks village next week as Valentine's Day arrives.

Realising she still has feelings for Peri Lomax (Ruby O'Donnelll), but worried she’s messed things up too many times, Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) seeks help from her family.

But she's left feeling deflated when she spots her ex having a drink with a stranger.

Disheartened and feeling like she missed her chance, Juliet goes to encourage her brother, James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), to tell Ste Hay (Kieron Richardons) how he really feels.

Peri takes her date back home but a bothered James turns up and confronts Peri.

After strong words of advice from Leela Lomax (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), Juliet decides to plan a romantic gesture for Peri.

However, when she bumps into an unsettled Ste, his thoughtless talking leaves Juliet with second thoughts..

Later at the pub, Juliet goes through with her plan and reveals her true feelings for Peri..

Elsewhere, Leela, who is on the hunt for a new romantic interest, and Donna-Marie Quinn (Lucy-Jo Hudson), set about finding a way to bring more people into the gym but does a conversation with Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas Speed) spark more than just a new idea?

Over at the McQueen’s, Goldie (Chelcee Healey) is intent on throwing an anti-Valentine’s Day party that everyone can enjoy but when Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) sneaks booze into her mocktail before leaving it on the side, recovering alcoholic John-Paul (Jame Sutton) picks up the wrong cup.

Later in the week, he tries to cover up his drinking relapse, but when he doesn’t remember telling Matthew-Jesus (Matthew Clohessy) they’d spend the day together, his son lashes out feeling let down.

Tension brews in the McQueen’s as a clean-up party leads Mercedes to discover that John Paul had continued to drink.

When he returns home with more alcohol he points the blame at his sister.

John Paul takes his son out of school and to the park. With his dad drunk and unstable on his feet, Matthew-Jesus is knocked to the floor.

The bruised youngster takes himself and his dad home where he is confronted by his concerned family.

With regrets on how she handled situations with her own son, Mercedes books a one-way ticket for Matthew-Jesus to go and stay with Myra in Alicante while John Paul continues to spiral on his alcohol relapse..

During a family intervention Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace) makes siblings John Paul and Mercedes realise that in order to heal and move forward they need each other.
