Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) hasn’t had an easy year in Hollyoaks after his engagement to Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) fell apart, but the trainee priest could be set to find love once more as his ex begins to play matchmaker.

After Cleo suffered a shock heart attack last year, the young girl resolved to start anew, so she cut all ties with Joel, thus ending their relationship — on the pairs’ wedding day! Joel was understandably devastated, but a lot of time has passed since then. Now, he’s enjoying life as a single man — for the time being anyway!

We’ve recently seen the young lad patch things up with Cleo, and although their romance is dead in the water, the two have become quite good friends.

In the upcoming episodes, Cleo starts to worry about Joel’s well-being. Fearing that he’s lonely, she resolves to help him out, and comes up with a plan to advertise a flatmate for him. The catch? She does so behind his back!

Later, Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) strikes up a conversation with Joel, and the pair end up discussing the possibility of renting a flat together.

With Joel in need of a flatmate — and Cindy seemingly looking for a new place — could this be a match made in heaven?

Perhaps. However, the bigger question is whether or not sparks will fly?
