Hollyoaks is lining up a second pregnancy storyline, with both set to take centre stage next week.

Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown), as viewers know, discovered she was pregnant shortly after breaking things off with boyfriend PC Sam Chen-Williams (Matthew McGivern), after their plot to take down Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) didn’t pan out.

Knowing how Zoe wanted to further her career, Sam has been desperately chasing Warren, hoping to get something substantial on him in a bid to help his ex accomplish her goal, but Zoe urges him again to drop the mission next week.

Little does Sam know, however, that Zoe is harbouring a pregnancy test in her bag. The truth comes out shortly afterwards when the detective grabs the test from her bag instead of a box of pens, leaving Sam in shock, but hopeful that a baby would bring them back together.

Zoe, however, brutally shuts him down, telling him that even if she is pregnant, they’re over for good, but later in the week, the two arrange to meet for a coffee, much to Sam’s delight.

Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) and Lizzie (Lily Best), however, are concerned that the policeman is reading into things that aren’t there and their instincts prove correct, with Zoe reiterating that they’re over for good.

Zoe, however, is struggling more than she’s letting on, as she rushes off in tears, bumping into Ethan, who is worried about her – and has some questions when the pregnancy test falls out of her bag!

Ethan is adamant that Sam must know about the baby, but Zoe begs him to keep shtum, having already booked a consultation for later that day. Sam, unaware, turns up on Zoe’s doorstep with a cuddly toy, hoping she’ll hear him out, but the DS again puts her foot down.

Late for the appointment, the detective tries to rush off, but Sharon Bailey (Jamelia) hands her daughter her phone, stunned to find a search page about terminations open on the screen. After Zoe opens up, Sharon urges her to tell Sam the truth, but Zoe is adamant that her mum must not tell anyone about the baby or the termination.

Will Sharon agree? And will Zoe go through with the termination?

The detective isn’t the only resident who is pregnant, however, as Yazz Maalik (Haeisha Mistry) makes the same discovery about herself during the week in question.

The popular character has a lot to deal with at the time, after being asked to give a talk at careers day at school only to find out that Hunter McQueen (Theo Graham) wanted her to speak in her capacity as a receptionist as opposed to a journalist, with her subsequently opening up to Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) about what’s on her mind.

Tom, like the kind and caring soul that he is, tries to cheer Yazz up, making her a hot chocolate, unaware that she’s holding a positive pregnancy test, as he plots a picnic, while also revealing that he sent one her articles to University of Manchester for a post-graduate course, encouraging her to follow her dreams.

In fact, the university want a video call with her. Yazz, however, struggles to process everything, and after a worn-out Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) makes a comment about how tiring parenting can be, she decides to cancel the meeting, before blurting out to Tom that she’s pregnant.

Yazz subsequently opens up, revealing she’s worried her immunosuppressants will affect the baby, what with her being unable to ask mum Misbah (Harvey Virdi) her medical expertise.

Tom calms her down, saying he’ll support her whatever she decides. Yazz, however, is still unsure what to do after a search online, with Tom asking if she’s perhaps just looking for an excuse to not go through with the pregnancy.

Matters are complicated further when Cindy (Stephanie Waring) wants to move in with Hilton, with Yazz shooting them down straight away, claiming she’s got enough on their hands with Steph, leaving Tom upset as he comes to believe his wife sees his daughter as a burden, questioning if she even wants a family.

Zain Rizwaan (Jonas Khan) overhears the couple’s subsequent showdown and offers advice, urging Yazz to do what’s right for her, reminding her that she’s already got a family with Tom and Steph.

But what will Yazz decide?
