Hollyoaks viewers witnessed Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) finally come face-to-face with serial killer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) in tense scenes during Tuesday's first-look episode.

The Dog landlady has been desperately searching for her arch enemy ever since their previous confrontation resulted in a tragic accident.

She lost her and husband Sylver's (David Tag) unborn baby after suffering a horror fall last month.

Meanwhile, Silas has been plotting to kidnap Mercedes son Bobby in an effort to get the ultimate revenge.

The evil character had one more game left to play with the McQueens, leaving Mercedes panicked when Sylver returned from the airport without her young son.

Mercedes tried to call Bobby's phone and when Silas answered, he told her to meet him at the Folly and they finally came face to face.

The dramatic episode ended on a cliffhanger and fans are convinced one character will get killed in a deathly twist.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "OMG Silas is going to die."

Another added: "I hope Mercedes doesn't die."

While a third person predicted: "Seth gonna kill Silas at this point!"

A fourth viewer wrote: "Mercedes VS Silas!!! The showdown I’ve waited years for!!!"

The McQueen family have been targeted by a mystery blackmailer for weeks.

Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) was exposed as the culprit in explosive scenes aired on Monday night.

However, she didn't know that she was also helping Silas to bring down her family.

Will Silas finally silence Mercedes for good in or will someone save the brunette bombshell before its too late?

Hollyoaks spoilers have seemingly confirmed that the ultimatum is a choice between living and dying.

In a teaser trailer, an emotional Mercedes tells Silas to go to hell, but the question is who will win the battle?
