Netflix has fans in the habit of marking special dates ontheir calendars when it comes to seasonpremieres, and now it’s time to make a note for Graceand Frankie. A little bit before season five aired, Netflix renewed thepopular comedy for another round, giving fans something to look forward to. Afterdropping breadcrumbs that the show would return in January 2020, the streamer sharedthe official premiere date for the series which stars JaneFonda and Lily Tomlin.

When exactly will ‘Grace and Frankie’ return?

Reserve a spot on your couch and calendar to binge-watch theseries beginning on Jan. 15. On Tuesday, Netflix announced the date and it’sbeen confirmed that all the core cast members will be returning. Who else is back?Ernie Hudson will be reprising his role as Jacob, Frankie’s beau who moved toNew Mexico.

During an appearance at PaleyFest in March, showrunner MartaKauffman talked about Hudson’s character and what he brings to the show—andto Frankie. “The electricity between them was sovibrant. We will be seeing him in season 6.” There will also be some freshcharacters on the show.

A new cast member is joining season six of ‘Grace andFrankie’

The cast list is already stacked with some of Hollywood’smost well-known talents, and there have been rumors circulating for months thata certain Southern belle could be making an appearance. But it doesn’t seemlike that will happen as Fonda has squashed the idea that Dolly Parton wouldbe a sure thing for a guest spot. She shared that Parton would love to do theshow, but her schedule is too hectic. Don’t count it out though.

However, viewers will see another familiar face in seasonsix: Mary Steenburgen. She’s slated for a guest appearance in one episode of theshow but it’s unclear what her role will be. According to What’sOn Netflix, other guest stars include Tamika Simpkins, Chrisanne Eastwood,and Kasey Mahaffy.

What does season six hold for Grace and Frankie?

Plot details haven’t been released yet for the newestseason, but by the end of season five, Grace accepted Nick’s proposal and theygot married. That detail will obviously drive much of season six, but fans notethat the two besties always figure out how to navigate their problems in end—itjust takes them a while to get there.

EntertainmentWeekly shared on-set photos for season six, and it looks like Brianna has anew man, Steenburgen’s character is somehow connected to Nick, and Sol andRobert are still going strong.

Grace and Frankie was renewed for a seventh and finalseason, and fans can expect 13 episodes in the upcoming year and 16 for thelast installment. Per TheHollywood Reporter, Netflix’s VP of Originals Cindy Holland said this aboutthe final renewal:

“Since its premiere in 2015, Grace and Frankie has expertly and hilariously demystified the experience of growing older and given a voice to the fastest growing segment of our population. Jane, Lily, Sam and Martin have become role models for fans that span generations around the world, and we are so proud to have been a part of the show’s journey from day one.”

Jan. 15 can’t come soon enough for what will be Netflix’slongest-running original series.
