It’s hard to believe Teen Mom has been on air since 2009 with many of its stars becoming household names. The reality series has not only given OG stars like Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, and Amber Portwood fame and publicity but also opportunities to earn big money. In addition to the OGs reportedly having a baseline salary of six-figures, according to Radar Online, they also earn income from various brand deals and social media endorsements. However, not all of the cast members of Teen Mom are equal in their net worth with some being more marketable and business savvier than others.
For Amber Portwood — whose life has made headlines on and off the show — her money comes from launching multiple businesses (some more successful than others), book deals, and appearances on other reality shows. Let’s take a look at how much she’s really worth and whether she’s the richest out of the Teen Mom cast members.
Amber Portwood reportedly faced some money issues
Some fans might be surprised by Celebrity Net Worth‘s report that Amber Portwood is supposedly worth $10,000. This relatively low figure may be due to her alleged financial problems, with the star receiving a federal tax lien in 2016 for $134,919, Radar Online reported. The star’s ex-fiance, Gary Shirley, also accused Amber of owing him $9,600 in backed child support for their daughter, Leah, per OK! Magazine. Oh, and did we mention Amber’s claim that her ex-boyfriend, Matt Baier, spent $120,000 of her money without permission?.
Interestingly enough, Meaww reported in October 2020 that Amber has a net worth “estimated net worth of $1.1 million.” The reality star gets most of her income from “sponsored posts on social media” and “investing in property as her secondary source,” according to the outlet. Portwood also gets paid when she appears on the franchise’s specials and after shows, receiving $1,000 per special, per Radar Online. In addition to getting bonuses from the Teen Mom franchise, Portwood also released a memoir in 2017 titled, Never Too Late.
With the premiere of season 9 of Teen Mom OG on Jan. 26, 2021, it’s likely Portwood’s net worth will continue to accumulate.
