HAMILTON star Miguel Cervantes has returned to the stage just 10 days after the death of his three-year-old daughter Adelaide.

The 42-year-old actor plays the titular character in Chicago's production of Lin Manuel Miranda's hit musical Hamilton.

He announced his return on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself in full costume backstage at the theatre.

Quoting the production, he simply captioned the photo: "Lez go".

Miguel's wife Kelly also commented on her husband's return to the stage, sharing an emotional post to her social media accounts.

Alongside a snap of the set, Kelly wrote: "The first time I saw @hamiltonmusical was September 2015 with Miguel by my side and the original Broadway company on the stage.

"Adelaide was heavy in my stomach as I squished into the narrow seats at the Richard Rodgers Theater 8 months pregnant.

"Tonight, I watch my husband retake the stage, life imitating art imitating life, and Adelaide is still with us but now resting heavy in our hearts.

"I am so proud of you, @mig.cervantes. I’ll be standing by your side, taking this one inch stone at a time."

Miguel and Kelly were left devastated on October 12 when Adelaide passed away just days before her fourth birthday.

The little girl had spent most of her life battling Infantile Spasms (IS) and epilepsy.

Posting a black and white photo of her daughter's bedroom, Kelly broke the tragic news on Instagram with the caption: "The machines are off. Her bed is empty. The quiet is deafening. Miss Adelaide Grace left us early Saturday morning.

"She went peacefully in my arms and surrounded by love.

"Finally, she is free from pain, reactions and seizures but leaves our hearts shattered. We love you so much Adelaideybug and forever after."

She and Miguel are also mum and dad to seven-year-old son Jackson.

On 20 October, three days after what would have been Adelaide's fourth birthday, the family held a Celebration of Life service at the Harold Washington Public Library in Chicago.
