Michael Gove joined Piers Morgan and charlotte Hawkins on Good Morning Britain to discuss Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to lockdown the country. However, he was unable to give clear information about whether or not children, who don’t live both parents, could move between homes.
When Susanna Reid joined her co-hosts via video link as she self-isolates at home, she asked Mr Gove for clarification on whether children under the age of 18 could see both parents.
Reid asked: “I just want to get this absolutely clear because what you’re suggesting is this is sort of lockdown roulette.
“Whoever the children are with right now, that’s where they’re staying whereas the guidance is saying, you should only leave the house for one of four reasons which includes to provide care for a vulnerable person.
“And the note says this includes where applicable, moving children under 18 between their parents’ homes.

“Now I would have thought that meant separated parents could move their children between homes but are you saying that’s not what that note suggests?”
Mr Gove replied: “Yes you should not be moving children from home to home.”
However, Mr Gove later appeared on BBC Breakfast and told Dan Walker “children under the age of 18 can see both parents”.
He later told his 152,5000 Twitter followers: “I wasn’t clear enough earlier, apologies.
“To confirm – while children should not normally be moving between households, we recognise that this may be necessary when children who are under 18 move between separated parents.
“This is permissible & has been made clear in the guidance.”
His change of advice left Mr Morgan furious as he slammed Mr Gove for not having his facts right before appearing on the show.
Mr Morgan said: “Wow, okay I mean this has got to stop.

“This government has got to get a grip. We’ve had mixed messages now for two, three weeks about almost everything.
“It couldn’t be a more fundamental question. Millions of people are affected by that decision.
“For the government to put somebody up, a high-ranking government member like Michael Gove, to give completely wrong advice to people is not acceptable.”
It wasn’t just Morgan who was unimpressed with Mr Gove as many viewers took to Twitter to slam the interview.
