Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose Campbell) appears to lurch from one disaster to another but the heavily pregnant kebab queen is about to need the assistance of emergency services in Coronation Street when she becomes trapped in a turnstile due to her belly which is carrying quadruplets. And it would just be her luck that she would go into labour right there and then. But will all of the babies be okay as she panics?
Gemma is with her boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) as they head for a day out at the stadium but as she tries to gain access, her body is not cut out for the turnstile and she is left crying out for help as she becomes trapped. Chesney has no choice but to call emergency servcies and Gemma is morified as she is surrounded by the fire brigade.
The scenes will play out this autumn so hopefully it will be a little too early for Gemma to go into labour – but it’s a clear indication to her that she can’t just keep doing the thinks she used to do with four extra beings to bear in mind. And that will be ten fold when they are born.
Gemma and Chesney have agreed together that they will bring up all four as one big family but they know that they will have a lot of struggles ahead. And the recent arrival of Gemma’s troublesome mum Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) has done absolutely nothing to reduce their stressful situation.
As the day of the quads’ birth draws nearer, Gemma and Chesney will have to face the reality of the situation but no details have yet been released on how the storyline will play out beyond the pregnancy stage.
However, if Gemma is forced to give birth while wrestling with a turnstile, it might be one disaster too far for the character – especially as the delivery of the quads would require a c-section in hospital.
