DANCING On Ice host Phillip Schofield has said it would be a "miracle" if Gemma Collins makes it to the first show.

The presenter is worried "quitter" Gemma, 37, will pull out before the programme returns to ITV next month.

Phillip, who will front the show alongside his This Morning co-host Holly Willougby, said: "I've said it to Gemma, 'If you make the first show it'll be a miracle', and she does seem very committed.

"We all know Gemma for being a bit of a quitter so I'm hoping she'll be there for that first show."

Famous diva Gemma – who calls herself The GC – quit I'm A Celebrity after just three days in 2014.

But Phillip, 56, thinks if she does make it then she'll quickly win the public over.

He said: "I think the nation is intrigued to see Gemma."

And telling of his surprise at her dancing talents, Phil added: "I think she'll be actually very good.

"I think she is surprisingly good – so I think that would be great to see."

Gaffe-prone Gemma admitted that she fears she might seriously injure herself when she partners up with Matt Evers to take to the ice.

She found international fame after footage of her falling down a stage trap door at last year’s BBC Teen Awards.

Gemma confessed: "Knowing me I’m going to break my leg, my arms and my back all in one week, but let’s hope I do it in style."

But the reality TV star is determined not to be the show's "fat joke" by putting in hours of training, shedding pounds – and insuring her new body for £2million.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "How can I enjoy all the food and booze this Christmas when I know I’ve got to step out and perform on ice and prove to the world that I can do this?

“I know this sounds really bizarre, but I’m not really bothered about Christmas this year because I’ve got such a big challenge in front of me.

“Everyone thinks I’m the fat joke on the show but whatever’s going to happen in my life, I can do this.

“I can do it. And I’m going to prove every f***er out there wrong. People will be eating their words. That’s how I feel.”

Gemma and partner Matt will be one of the first set of dancers to open the show on January 6 at 6pm.
