Gavin and Stacey star Laura Aikman shared some behind-the-scenes secrets with fans, with a sneak peak backstage.

Laura, 34, took to Instagram while filming the iconic programme, giving fans a treat with a peak backstage.

She gave followers a look behind the scenes as she celebrated the Christmas special smashing television ratings on the 25th December.

Laura, who played Smithy's (James Corden) new girlfriend shared an exclusive backstage look into the making of the show.

Laura, who has had a number of different TV roles over the years , took to her Instagram with two iconic photos.

One was a selfie with James Corden and the other of James chatting to the backstage crew.

She also posted some content on her Instagram story, including the whole gang sat in the Barry Island living room set, as well as the cliffhanger ending in which Nessa (Ruth Jones) proposed to a gobsmacked Smithy.

Finally, Laura shared a headline announcing that Gavin and Stacey smashed Christmas Day telly ratings.

She posted the pictures over the festive period, sharing them to her 8,721 followers on Instagram.

Her devoted followers flocked to the snaps, excited about the Christmas comeback episode.

One fan commented on the photo of her alongside Cordon: "You were fantastic."

With another saying: "You smashed it."

The iconic programme was triumphant in Christmas day ratings.

Its average of 11.6 million viewers being the best Christmas Day ratings for more than ten years.

Ruth spoke about the possibility of a fourth series to The Sun.

She said: "It is so complicated for me and James to get together to write.

"I do say never say never, as while we did make it work that was after three years of trying to find time when we could sit down and write it. Obviously with the way it ends, there is room for more."
