EMMERDALE’S Victoria Barton won’t get justice in court after she was brutally raped.
Isabel Hodgens – who plays the character on the ITV soap – admitted it looks unlikely that her rapist Lee will pay the price after the police dropped charges against him due to insufficient evidence.
She told the Metro: “For someone who has been through what she has been through I would love justice to be served, in this instance I don’t think it is.
“I think she should just be left to get on with her life, she decided to keep the baby, she has wanted a baby for so long, But that’s simple and soap is not simple.”
Discussing what the future holds for her, she continued: “It’s all baby business and Robert (her brother) is not happy. She just wants to get on with her life but he can’t let it go.
“He’s not got his head around the baby so we have got a very tumultuous relationship at the minute so lots of drama, lots of fall outs and a little bit more crying but not too much.”
Victoria was raped by Lee – one of two men she met in a club – after he walked her back to the village when she was stranded with no way to get home.
He seemed to be a gentleman and Victoria invited him in for a cuppa while he called for a cab.
But once they were inside, Lee’s behaviour took a sinister turn, with Vic asking him to leave several times.
In disturbing scenes, evil Lee followed Victoria into her bedroom where he pushed her face down onto the bed and raped her while snarling in her ear that she was a tease.
To add insult to injury, Lee sent her a text the next morning claiming he’d had "fun" that night.
A traumatised Victoria didn’t tell anyone what had happened for two weeks, hiding herself away in her home instead.
She eventually confessed to Moira, who told her to take a pregnancy test.
She made the decision to keep the baby – leaving her brother Robert furious.
