Be prepared to rip your hair out with tension as Emmerdale bosses have confirmed that the last episode before the move to three weeks of lockdown episodes ends on a huge cliffhanger.
But they have also explained how the timescale of the show will work – with the lockdown episodes being in their own bubble before then new episodes pick up where the action left off.
Producer Laura Shaw told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s quite complicated to explain. When Emmerdale shut down and we went into lockdown period, we were mid block. We have a whole lot of scenes pre lockdown and a whole lot of scenes now. We end on a cliffhanger on Friday then it’s onto lockdown episodes.
‘The next day it will be like lockdown never happened. Those episodes are part shot, so we will see three weeks of Emmerdale in the same world as before – some of it will be shot with social distancing but with editing and camera trickery hopefully we won’t notice.
‘Then we set a new block of filming, we will reference coronavirus. The café and Woolpack will be takeaway only. But the specifics of the isolation episodes, the secrets we find out will feed into the future but it won’t be a direct pick up.’

Her colleague Kate Brooks added: ‘We have done an unspecified amount of time during lockdown. You will see them on day two, day seven – we will jump into their world. We will see their ructions, their relationships. We are just diving straight on in and drip feeding the time lapse of the lockdown.’
The cliffhanger seems set to relate to Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale) – who disappears with Millie. But what has happened to her?
