Nate Robinson (played by Jurell Carter) was stunned when a quick visit to A&E for Tracy Metcalfe’s (Amy Walsh) sprained wrist resulted in a positive pregnancy result. At first, Emmerdale viewers saw the farmhand suggest an abortion. But, after his partner decided she wanted to raise their child with or without him, he decided to stand by her. During tonight’s episode of the soap, Nate scolded Tracy for putting herself and their child in danger – but why did he react so impulsively? Perhaps he has suffered loss before…

Kirin killed someone, left someone dying in the road – what were you thinking?” Nate shouted after Tracy.

“I just thought Charity needed backup,” she argued.

“So do you though, you’re pregnant, can’t you see that was stupid?” Nate hit back.

“Vanessa could’ve lost everything,” Tracy remarked.

“Yes, so could’ve I. Don’t I get a say for putting yourself in danger, my child in danger?” the farmer asked.

Realising how much Nate cares, Tracy said: “I should’ve told you.”

“Yes, you should’ve,” he agreed.

“Sorry,” Tracy muttered.

“Look, I do get it, you love your sister, and Johnny as well, but you’re my world – both of you,” Nate continued.

“It’s all over now, he’s signed what he needed to sign, he’s out of our lives,” Tracy revealed, referencing Kirin Kotecha’s (Rish Shah) return, blackmail and arrest.

“No more secrets okay?” Nate asked to which Tracy agreed.

But why the sudden outburst from Nate?

When he said he “could’ve lost everything,” perhaps he was referring to having suffered a loss previously.

When Tracy found out she was pregnant, Nate was not exactly overjoyed.

He explained how he wanted to be present as a father in his child’s life, and not have his child experience what he did with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) being absent.

It is not known whether Nate has told his mother about the baby either.

There is a chance he is holding out because he has been down this path before, only to have suffered a miscarriage with a former girlfriend.

As for Vanessa Woodfield’s (Michelle Hardwick) and Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) worries over Kirin, it seems that situation is sorted.

Last night, Charity posed as a doctor and visited Kirin in the hospital where she bribed him into signing the adoption papers.

Unbeknownst to him, she was not going to hold her end of the bargain and he was seen carted off in handcuffs.

Emmerdale airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm on ITV.
