Emmerdale – Jai finds out he’s adopted
Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma (played by Chris Bisson) confronted his dad Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) following a troubling family discovery.
When sifting through some boxes, Jai found some papers which revealed he was adopted.
However, after letting his anger simmer, Jai decided to contact his sponsor after Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) raised concerns about him relapsing.
“I am fine,” Jai fumed as Laurel said: “Obviously not I am worried about you. Do you need to go to a meeting?”
“I am not going to use, I am not even thinking about that,” Jai hit back.
He later said: “Right I am going to go and ring my sponsor, I am not going to wreck that as well, I am going to stay clean.”
Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk and other press, Jai actor Chris discussed the possibility of his character turning back to a life of drugs.
“I think what is hurting Jai more than anything is that Rishi continues to hide further information,” Chris began.
“So he knows what the secret is but there are more details which are important, and Rishi won’t be candid with him. It’s driving Jai around the twist.

“He doesn’t actually challenge Rishi for an episode or two because I think he’s been sideswiped by it and he’s confused.
“He doesn’t know what to make of it and he needs to try and figure out what it means.”
When asked about whether Laurel is worried about Jai relapsing, the soap star went on: “There’s no real indication from Jai that he’s going to use again.
“But the other part of him will always be worried that this could really take him over the edge.

“There are those little things that get you so anxious and so wound up that they might tip you over the edge but when something massive happens, it’s kind of beyond and above that.
“There’s no running away from this secret and there’s no seeking solace in recreational drugs, it will never go away.”
“So it doesn’t really rear its head in the way that we’ve seen Jay’s addiction problems before,” he added.
However, will it all become too much for Jai and will he turn back to drugs to help him get over Rishi’s betrayal?
An exit could be on the cards for the villager if he tries to find his real dad.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
