Charlie Brooks has been spotted filming new scenes for EastEnders, after reprising her iconic role as Janine Butcher.
The actress, who recently starred in Channel 5 drama Lie With Me, was pictured grabbing some food in-between takes.
Covered in soot and ash, Charlie, 40, is in the middle of shooting tense fire scenes as part of Janine’s explosive return storyline.
An insider said that the iconic superbitch’s entry story will feature Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) son, Tommy Moon.
Janine’s daughter Scarlett is allegedly responsible for the blaze, after she tries to kill Tommy by starting a huge fire with the boy in the building.
Body doubles, who were also spotted, will be used for Tommy and Scarlett.
The news of Janine’s return initally broke back in April, after a source claimed that the character will take centre stage in a ‘huge story’ later this year.

‘They are keeping tight-lipped about whether Janine will come back as a reformed character after all the chaos she has caused in the past.’
EastEnders bosses declined to comment when approached by Metro.co.uk, but our own sources stated: ‘The potential for Janine is huge. She has enemies all around the Square who she’d gladly go to war with, and she’s shown before she isn’t afraid to kill to get her way.
‘It could have huge repercussions for some of the big names in EastEnders. She’s not going to come back and play nice.’
Speculation was rife in the aftermath of the reveal, with actress Charlie dropping hints but refusing to confirm anything.
Pictures subsequently emerged of her leaving the Elstree set, which is where EastEnders is filmed. The BBC One soap finally confirmed Janine’s return in June.
‘I am beyond excited to be slipping back into Janine’s shoes and returning to the square,’ Charlie said at the time. ‘The time feels right and I can’t wait to find out what she’s been up to for the last seven years!
‘She is and always has been SO much fun to play. Feels a bit like coming home. It’s good to be back.’

Several of EastEnders’ cast members were then spotted filming huge fire scenes, and speculation soon started that Janine’s return would coincide with the blast.
An insider told Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘The explosion is really the start of a massive autumn for the show that will take them through the rest of the year. ‘
