Linda (played by Kellie Bright) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) have had a lot to deal with as a family in recent months and tragically the landlady has decided to turn to alcohol and push her loved ones away to cope. Despite having moments of clarity and trying to make a change to stop hurting young Ollie Carter, Linda always crumbles but the EastEnders actress has revealed why she is finding it so tough to quit alcohol for good.

During an appearance on This Morning, Linda star Kellie admitted her current alcoholism storyline on the BBC soap has “been a real gift.”

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield quizzed the actress on the reasons why Linda has sought comfort in alcohol.

“This alcoholism storyline,” Phillip began. “For her as a character this hasn’t come on suddenly this has been a slow burner…”

“For me, when they floated the idea to me about Linda’s alcoholism it was about six months before we started the story,” Kellie explained.
