Viewers were landed with a difficult decision on Tuesday night when their favourite soap aired at the same time as the show of the summer.
A one-off second episode of EastEnders battled with Love Island for viewership, as they were both broadcasted at 9 pm.
Some opted to catch up on the drama in the villa, following Monday night’s shock recoupling, that saw scientist Yewande Biala get the chop.
But they were left fuming when they realised they had missed out on even more drama in Albert Square, as Jack Branning was ambushed by Tiffany Butcher’s rapist.
Jack confronted Fraser the drug dealer in an alleyway, shoving him against the wall, and revealing that he knew his identity.
With things heating up, he yelled: “She was a kid and you took that away from her. You come back here I’ll kill you. Do you hear me?”
Things took a turn when the thug pulled out a blade and lunged towards him, stabbing him in the shoulder.
While Jack bled, he sneered that his niece Tiffany was “nothing special” and threatened to come back for his daughter Amy when she “grows up”.
His blood boiling, Jack lost control and lashed out at Fraser, knocking him to the floor and beating him merciless.
He jeered: ”How brave are you now, hey? How does it feel?”
Before adding: ”Do you know how many blokes I know who would take you apart for fun? Just one call. But why give someone else the pleasure.”
Holding the knife against the rapist’s trousers, he threatened: ”You come back again. I’ll cut them off. I swear on my kids.”
Taking to Twitter, outraged EastEnders fans griped at the BBC for their scheduling, devastated to have missed the confrontation.
One fumed: “For God’s sake! EastEnders same time as Love Island tonight.”
And a second added: “EastEnders and Love Island clash tonight! Who’s idea was that?”
While a third moaned: “I’m going to have to record the second episode of EastEnders it’s clashing with Love Island.”
Luckily, they’ll be able to catch up on the drama in Walford on BBC iPlayer.
EastEnders continues on Thursday on BBC One.
