EASTENDERS viewers found getting used to Peter Beale’s return was a tall order — because the actor is 7ins bigger than his predecessor.

Newcomer Dayle Hudson towered over on-screen dad Ian, played by Adam Woodyatt, during his first scene on Tuesday.

The father and son were the same height when Peter left for New Zealand five years ago aged 21.

Ben Hardy, who played the character then, and Adam are both 5ft 8in — but Dayle is 6ft 3in and the difference did not go unnoticed by fans.

Viewer Ally Ives tweeted: “Peter hasn’t just got a new face, he’s grown about three feet.”

Daniel Earley wrote: “The thing that’s confusing me the most is how Peter has returned about seven foot tall.”

Sandra Clark joked: “Is the new Peter Beale on stilts?”

Dayle is the seventh actor to play Peter on the BBC soap.
