Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield 's former This Morning co-star Eamonn Holmes has branded the pair as "actors" as their reported fallout rumbles on.
The 63-year-old and his wife Ruth Langsford, also 63, used to host the hit ITV show on a Friday while Phillip, 61, and Holly, 42, hosted the show during the rest of the week.
But in recent days it has been reported that the show's two main hosts are "barely speaking" when cameras aren't rolling.
Irish broadcaster Eamonn has now weighed in on the supposed feud as he hosted Breakfast With Eamonn & Isabel on GB News on Monday morning.
Ahead of Holly and Phil hosting Monday's episode of This Morning, Eamonn told his co-host Isabel Webster: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.
"They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.
"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."
It has been reported that Phillip has now hired a lawyer to help him amid the rumoured fallout.
Phillip is said to have been left "blindsided" by how public their row has become, while Holly is believed to be equally as miffed by her co-host's public statement about them last week.
And now it seems Phillip – who also presents Dancing On Ice with Holly – has enlisted legal help as Holly has reportedly started "contract negotiations."
A source told The Sun: "Phil has instructed a lawyer to help keep his reputation intact. They are overseeing stories relating to ITV and his role on This Morning and are ensuring Phil is protected.
"Phil has done absolutely nothing wrong and doesn’t have a PR team guiding him.
"He and ITV felt he needed someone, officially, in his corner to ward off stuff that isn’t true. Phil doesn’t want this to get beyond his control."
Both Phillip and Holly are putting their loyal viewers first despite their reported differences, with them both hosting Monday's This Morning.
The source continued to tell the publication: "Holly and Phil are professionals and they can turn it on like no one else.
"Although behind the scenes their relationship is nothing like it was, they are both dedicated to This Morning and keeping it together for viewers."
