Fans of Dracula missed Sister Agatha (played by Dolly Wells) in the final episode of the hit horror series when the story jumped into the modern day. She did appear through visions to her relative Zoe Van Helsing but a new fan theory has speculated on what exactly might have happened to the original character.
Created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, Dracula was a mini-series released on the BBC and Netflix at the beginning of 2020.
The show was a unique reimagining of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel which spanned centuries and genres over three feature-length episodes.
For fans, the dynamic between Dracula (Claes Bang) and Sister Agatha was one of the most compelling parts of the series
Beginning with their stand-off at the gates of the Budapest nunnery in episode one, the pair were natural-born enemies.

This carried on into the second episode when Agatha emerged out of Dracula’s grasp and attempted to kill him once-and-for-all.
However, fans will remember Agatha’s attempt to drown Dracula when they were travelling to England failed.
Viewers last saw her character alive at the end of episode two as the ship began to sink with them both on board.
One fan has pointed out there could still be hope for her character as it was not revealed exactly what had happened to her.
User filexlaok wrote on Reddit: “She was bit by Dracula and started exhibiting the early stages of turning into a vampire. After, she blew up the ship she sank down into the dark watery depths of the sea.
“Hypothetically speaking regardless of the fact we saw her spirit in her great great niece’s body, she could still be down there in the same type of coma as Dracula was in hibernating on the sea floor waiting to be revived as a vampire for another season.”
They went on to point out how this was something they would love to see explored in another season of the show.
The user also pointed out how a vampire would have been able to survive the boat sinked to the bottom on the sea.

They added: “It’s an opening for her return if nothing else. In 2020 when Zoe was speaking to Dracula she said he had killed her.
“But in fact the only thing we saw was Dracula letting her go to jump into the coffin as the ship exploded and her sinking to the bottom of the sea already having been bitten, and we already know a vampire can survive this.”
Other viewers agreed with the theory, including user tbone998 who pointed out they never saw her death on screen.
“I thought she was the one waiting for him with the mercinaries, but then my hopes were dashed. Deaths only count on screen, until proven otherwise,” they wrote.

User Stewardy also pointed out the version of Sister Agatha which viewers see again in the show may not actually be her and therefore does not prove her death.
She said: “The ‘spirit’ supposedly came from Dracula’s blood, so an earlier version of Agatha essentially.
“It wasn’t really a ghost so much as a manifestation of her personality, as I understood it. There’s no reason to suppose Agatha died, at least not in my mind.”
There has been no confirmation the show will be continuing on past its first season but co-creator Gatiss teased the potential to the Radio Times.
He told the publication: “It’s very hard to kill a vampire. Do you know what I mean? What they do is resurrect.”
Dracula is available to watch on Netflix and the BBC.
