JODIE Whittaker became the target of Lord Byron’s romantic advances during the latest episode of Doctor Who.

The Time Lord ventured back in time to 1816 last night for the latest episode The Haunting of Villa Diodati.

They pay a visit to the esteemed poet and politician Lord Byron and the Shelleys, where they plan to spend the night exchanging ghost stories of nightmarish proportions.

However, the plans are derailed when the lone Cyberman Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman) previously warned of finally showed up.

The likes of Lord Byron, John William Polidori, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and Claire Clairmont find themselves doing battle with image distortion technology as they try to navigate the mansion’s twisting corridors and disappearing doors.

However, it was Lord Byron’s (Jacob Collins-Levy) outrageous flirting with The Doctor that captured viewers’ attention.

Byron’s eyes lit up the minute Jodie arrived on his doorstep, and he wasted no time hushing over her as “extraordinary” and “remarkable”.

Later, when Jodie sprang into action against the house’s changing form, he purred: “May I say, you’re quite lovely in a crises.”

Jodie sternly shot back: “No, you may not,” but that did little to discourage him.

When the gang grouped up to comb through a series of relics, including a preserved skull, Byron took his pick-up lines into the gutter.

“My bones have never caused such mischief before,” he cheekily quipped, a reference that no doubt went over the heads of the children who were tuned in.

However, adult viewers were quick to pick up on the saucy comment and took to social media in equal parts shock and awe.

“Keep it in your pants Byron!” one Twitter user exclaimed.

“Byron trying to flirt with the Doctor and she’s not having it,” a second wrote, alongside a crying laughing emoji.

A third asked: “Still the shameless flirt like always eh Byron?”

While a fourth brutally jibed: “Christ, Byron is the original f***boy isn’t he? Total sleaze.”

Ultimately, Byron got his comeuppance when he was snubbed by Claire Clairmont (Nadia Parkes) for his indiscriminate flirting, leaving him open-mouthed in the episode’s final moments.

The appearance of the lone Cyberman paves the way for the two-part season finale, which will kick off on Sunday.

Jodie and the gang will travel into the distant future in a bid to turn the tide of the Cybermen’s brutal war against humanity.
