Young love is not running smoothly for Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) and Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) in upcoming EastEnders episodes, as their relationship could be over before it’s even properly started.

Denzel and Amy have been getting close recently. Though Jack (Scott Maslen) has been a bit growly about his daughter being alone with Denzel, the couple have had support from Denise (Diane Parish), Howie (Delroy Atkinson) and Kim (Tameka Empson) who all told Jack that he was being an over-protective father.

Parents interfering in their children’s relationships often has the effect of driving the couple closer together. But when their friends get involved, it’s a different thing. This proves to be the case for Amy and Denzel.

Denzel reveals to Patrick (Rudolph Walker) that he has feelings for somebody, and Patrick gives him the idea to get Amy a gift. He gets her a personalised phone case and tells her that he’d like them to be exclusive.

This romantic moment is ruined by the arrival of Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), Lily (Lilia Turner) and Tommy (Sonny Kendall), who mock Amy when she tells them that she and Denzel are together.

Nugget and Lily continue to tease Amy and Denzel about the phone case and its meaning, leaving the new couple feeling hurt and embarrassed.

Can they get past this?
