DANCING On Ice couple Alexander Demetriou and Carlotta Edwards are playing happy families after his role in the split of Love Island's Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard was revealed.
The Sun Online revealed yesterday the Love Island pair ended their seven-month relationship over her closeness with Alex, 28.
Maura, 29, and Alex became increasingly tight while performing together on Dancing on Ice. It apparently caused bust-ups between Alex and his skater wife, Carlotta.
But it also caused tension between Maura and Curtis, 24, who split earlier this week.
Sources at the ITV show said Carlotta did not trust Maura who had "spent hours and hours with Alex in rehearsals for weeks and they have got really close.
“They have grown very friendly and it’s not gone unnoticed with the rest of the cast and crew — or Carlotta," the source said.
On Wednesday, a visibly upset Maura was photographed in deep conversation with Alex at the Riverside ice rink in Chelmsford, Essex — a short drive from her home.
The Irish beauty was spotted leaving her flat that morning after announcing her split from Curtis looking glumly down at the ground.
But amid reports of his role in the Love Island couple's split, Carlotta, 30, and Alex have been putting on an united front today.
Both have posted adorable photos and videos of them babysitting Gracie, the two-year-old daughter of fellow pro skater and Dancing on Ice coach, Brianne Delcourt.
The couple stayed with Gracie overnight and posted photos of them snuggling up close with the toddler, watching Frozen on repeat and pulling funny faces for selfies.
One video shows Carlotta holding Gracie on her hips, bouncing up and down, while both in their pyjamas and saying the words along to Frozen in funny voices.
In the posts, Carlotta and Alex seem loved up and having a great time with Brianne's first-born.
It is not known if that unity will hold on Sunday night as they will appear alongside Maura at the Dancing on Ice final.
Maura and Alex were knocked out of the competition last month, while Carlotta, 30, had been competing on the show with magician Ben Hanlin, 33, but they were eliminated on Sunday.
The pair married in 2016 and have been together for 11 years after meeting while performing in Disney on Ice.
They joined the ITV series last year when they were paired with Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton, 35, and ex-EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood, 47.
Maura announced her break-up from Curtis in an emotional Instagram post on Monday night, even though the couple had denied for weeks their relationship was in trouble.
She wrote: “Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.
“We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.
“There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future.”
