DALGLIESH viewers were in for a surprise after a former EastEnders star played a flirtatious nurse in the thriller's premiere.

The new Channel 5 drama sees Bertie Carvel play the titular DCI Adam Dalgliesh, who investigates the death of a student nurse at a training school.

It was revealed that the nurse had been poisoned, prompting Dalgliesh to question the deceased's fellow students.

One of them, Nurse Pardoe, couldn't help but be flirty with the police officers, despite the grave situation.

The nurse had been seen at the start of the episode caught in her undress after hosting a male visitor in her dorm room.

But once viewers got a better look at her as she was questioned, some viewers may have realised they recognised the actress playing Pardoe.

The star – Alice Nokes – had played Courtney Mitchell in EastEnders in 2016.

Courtney is the daughter of Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) and the late Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon).
