Last week, we saw nosy neighbour Yvette – played by Arabella Weir – join the show, and she is set to cause trouble for Aggie and Ed Bailey with her wild antics.
As fans fall in love with her cheeky onscreen personality, Daily Star has taken a deep dive inside her wild life away from the cameras.
Let’s take a look…
Who is she?
Arabella Weir is a beloved actress, comedian and writer who hails from California but considers Scotland her home.
She first found fame back in 1994 when she appeared in the BBC comedy series, The Fast Show, where she took on her now famous character, the ‘Insecure Woman’ and coined her memorable catchphrase: ‘Does my bum look big in this?’.
Throughout her career she has appeared in a number of television shows including Two Doors Down, Doctor Who, Citizen Khan and Posh Nosh.
She also played the beloved role of Jenny on Channel 4 sitcom Drifters from 2013 to 2016, regularly entertaining viewers each week.
Arabella has also taken part in the popular culinary reality show Celebrity MasterChef in 2006 and Ready Steady Cook in 2021.
Stepping away from the silver screen, the mum-of-two has also appeared in a number of theatre productions during the early years of her acting career.
The comic later returned to the stage in 2019 with her one-woman show, based on her 1998 novel Does My Bum Look Big in This?
Gordon Brown friendship
Stepping away from her acting roles, the TV star also involves herself in politics and regularly writes articles for The Independent and The Guardian.
The star has been an active Labour supporter for a number of years and has a close friendship with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown through her involvement in politics.
In 2011, the actress described the Labour leader as one of her personal heroes in an interview with The Telegraph.
She told the publication: “I know people didn’t like him as a Prime Minister but I admire him because he is unswervingly socialist, totally committed to his party’s values and always working for the collective good, even if it means making himself unpopular.
It was previously reported by The MailOnline that the actress attended high school with his wife Sarah Jane Brown at the Camden School for Girls.
Over the years, Arabella has built up a strong friendship with the politician and she showcased their close bond when she supported him at a pro-Union rally in the heart of Edinburgh last week.
Stripping off
In 2010, the brunette beauty got her kit off when she joined the cast of Calendar Girls where she took on the role of Chris Harper.
The West End hit tells the heart-warming true story of how a group of ladies at the Women’s Institute stripped down to their birthday suits to raise money for a cancer charity after the death of one of their husbands.
Arabella joked the likes of former EastEnders star Hannah Waterman, pneumatic model Kelly Brook and comic actress Helen Lerderer.
At the time, it was rumoured that the cast had been feuding bitterly due to a conflict between the trained actresses and the “personalities” hired by producers.
An inside source told the Daily Mail: “It has been far frostier than the cheesy grins on the glossy publicity posters would suggest.
“In fact, when the play finally finished its run on Saturday, it came as something of a relief.
They went on: “Get any group of women together and there is friction. But, by the end, some of the cast weren’t on speaking terms. Early on they split into two groups: the showbizy types and the real actresses.
“So, while Kelly and Arabella increasingly disappeared together to flashy, celebrity haunts like J Sheekey – Helen, Hannah and the others would congregate in low-key wine bar close to the theatre.”
However, it is understood that the group managed to put their differences aside for one final performance on the last night and parted ways with no bad blood between them.
Doctor Who link
But the politician isn’t the only famous face Arabella is friends with.
What loyal fans of the comic may not know is that the actress is also close friends with the 10th doctor, David Tennant.
The dynamic duo met back in 1994 while filming a six-part comedy drama called Takin’ Over the Asylum for BBC Scottland.

Throughout filming the pair hit it off, so much so that Tennant moved to London and lodged with her at her house in Crouch End for five years.
And it appears as though their friendship is still stronger than ever, after she named him a godfather to her youngest child.
Weir also appeared in a number of episodes of Doctor Who during Tennant’s five-year rein, including the 2011 Dr Who Christmas special and The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe.
