Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien will be sticking around on the cobbles for another year.
The actress — who portrays Sarah Platt on the ITV soap — has signed a new deal that will see her remain on the serial drama for another year.
With Corrie’s 60th anniversary on the horizon, The Sun Online reports that bosses are keen for Tina to be a part of the huge milestone.
A source said: ‘Tina’s definitely a favourite for viewers and bosses have big plans for her.’
‘Tina was offered a new deal at the earliest opportunity.’
The actress initially portrayed the role of Sarah from 1999 until 2007, before departing from the cobbles. She returned in 2015, and has been there ever since.
During both those periods, Sarah featured in a number of the soap’s biggest storylines — from her teen pregnancy to getting caught up in Richard Hillman’s (Brian Capron) revenge plan on the Platt clan — and has recently been seen trying to help brother Nick (Ben Price) get the factory back on its feet.
However, due to Nick having other ideas — as do the factory workers — it’s been something of a struggle thus far.
Coronation Street continues Friday 29th November at 7:30pm on ITV.
