Coronation Street’s Peter Ash has lifted the lid on his character Paul’s emotional exit as his motor neuron disease continues to deteriorate.
Over the past few months, ITV viewers have been gripped by the fan-favourite's health battle after he was diagnosed with the condition just weeks before his twin sister Gemma’s wedding to Chesney Brown.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom for the beloved character, with Paul now planning his own wedding to his fiancé and doting partner Billy Mayhew.

As his condition continues to progress, the star has been ticking off things on his bucket list while he still has full control of his body.
Most recently, fans saw him skinny dipping in the river with the archdeacon and revealed his plans to walk down the aisle unassisted on his big day. Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star and other press, the actor has revealed what other dreams he has in store for viewers.
When asked if he had anything else on his character’s wish list, the actor joked that he would love to go skydiving in the future. He gushed: “Sky diving, oh yeah that’d be fun, that’d be loads of fun.
“But I'd love for him to go away somewhere nice, somewhere like the Caribbean, just for a little week away somewhere. I don’t know how true this is but I don’t think Paul has actually been abroad before.
“I remember a line I had once where he was saying, ‘The furthest I’ve ever been is Wales’. So yeah, it’d be nice for him to go a bit further than Wales.” It comes following the death of his new friend and fellow MND sufferer Shelley sadly passed away due to complications with the illness.
Speaking on her passing, Peter explained: “Her death had a really big, big effect on him because through Shelley he found someone who totally understands his situation. As much as Billy, Bernie and Gemma love and care for Paul so much, the still would never understand what it’s like to live with MND.
“Meeting Shelly and getting on so well, I think Paul felt like he could tell her anything, so losing Shelly is a big shock for Paul and also it’s Paul’s future. Shelley’s just Paul a bit further down the MND journey. So I think it was a bit of a wake up call for him I guess to make him make the most of what time he’s got left.”
