Coronation Street: Daisy and Ryan have heart-to-heart in hospital
Coronation Street fans couldn’t quite believe what they were hearing when they heard Corrie’s Daisy Midgley star Charlotte Jordan’s real accent at The British Soap Awards.
Coronation Street fans watching The British Soap Awards 2023 on Tuesday night, were left surprised after hearing star Charlotte Jordan’s real-life accent.
The 28-year-old has been at the centre of a horrific acid attack storyline involving her character Daisy, friend Ryan Connor (played by Ryan Prescott) and her stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still).
Together, the three of them received awards for Scene of the Year and Best Single Episode.
Meanwhile, Jordan was delighted to take home the trophy for Best Dramatic Performance, despite losing out to Best Leading Performer to EastEnders’ Danielle Harold.
Viewers were delighted to see Jordan win one of the top prizes but couldn’t help but be distracted by her acceptance speech.
Corrie’s Daisy may have a strong Manchester accent in the show but Jordan herself is actually from Surrey.
Taking to Twitter to share their surprise at the revelation, one viewer wrote: “Charlotte Jordan being a posh girl, though! My ears got all confused.”
Another commented: “Wasn’t expecting Charlotte Jordan to sound so posh in real life.”
This also made fans warm to the actress even more with many praising the Coronation Street actress for her talent.

A third exclaimed: “Wow! How different does Charlotte Jordan sound to her character Daisy in #Corrie but she’s fabulous nevertheless . Well deserved award!”
And another added: “Charlotte Jordan deserves every award purely based off the fact that her manchester accent is unreal??? Iam so confused as to how she’s actually that posh.” (sic)
Jordan previously revealed that she didn’t have a clue how to do a Mancunian accent when she auditioned for the ITV soap.
But it was thanks to a friend who was also trying to learn the accent at the time that she was able to learn.

Jordan told The Metro earlier this year: “When I went to the audition, I didn’t know how to do it.
“But by pure luck, or fate, a friend of mine was doing an ITV drama where she had to have a Mancunian accent.
“She had an accent coach, so I basically used her as a coach to nail the accent down.”
Coronation Street continues weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
