BRIGHTON Pride will not be going ahead this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s festival, which would have taken place in August, was due to be headlined by Mariah Carey to celebrate it’s 30th anniversary.

Bosses made the decision “with a heavy heart” to postpone the UK’s biggest Pride festival until 2021.
Legendary songstress Mariah was due to play an impressive 75 minute set, which would have marked her first show outside of London in over four years.
The Pussycat Dolls were also expected to take to the stage, alongside Todrick Hall and Bananarama.
Organisers broke the news on Twitter, saying: “It is with a heavy heart that Brighton & Hove Pride have taken the difficult decision to postpone our landmark 30th anniversary celebrations that were due to take place on 1st & 2nd August until 2021.”
The posted a lengthy statement, which read: “The decision to postpone has not been taken lightly and with many events still planning to go ahead in July and August we were hoping to wait until closer to the time to avoid disappointing our volunteers, community groups and the public, but after carefully monitoring the rapidly evolving Covid-19 pandemic and evaluating the ongoing risks and uncertainty, as well as the additional pressure any large event puts on the emergency services, we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone this year’s Pride FABULOSO Anniversary celebration.”
It is unclear if Mariah will be able to return to the stage next year.
London Pride, which was expected to take place on June 27, has also been cancelled.
The news comes after the coronavirus pandemic reached a grim milestone with the number of people infected worldwide soaring past one million.
Yesterday, the UK coronavirus death toll shot up by 569 to 2,961 people – including 44 with no underlying health conditions.
