In the four-and-a-half minute video, the singer appears in a flowing pink and red gown in the middle of an arid desert. Her seven-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, then appears in a complimentary dress, interspersed with shots from the film of Simba and his father Mufasa.
Later, Beyonce appears in front of a waterfall in blue and dances in yellow and pink.
“Spirit” is an original song that appears in the film and on the soundtrack, written by Ilya Salmanzadeh, Labrinth and Beyonce. According to the track listing, Beyonce also sings “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with costars Donald Glover, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen.
“Spirit. Watch the heavens open.” Beyonce belts out in the song’s chorus. “Spirit, can you hear it calling. Your destiny is coming close.”
